Flysmart is built on something very real: AFSN already supplies Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) at several airports in Norway, allowing companies to access SAF at the airports they actually fly from. This makes the emission reductions both tangible and traceable — not theoretical or offset-based, but rooted in real fuel delivery and certified sustainability.

The SAF used in Flysmart is produced at a Scandinavian refinery, supplied by our owner St1 in Gothenburg. It is made from certified European bio-based feedstock, ensuring a short and robust supply chain into Norway. This provides high traceability, reduced transport needs, and a more sustainable overall value chain.

Norwegian businesses rely heavily on air travel. Long distances, decentralised operations, and the need to stay connected across regions make aviation an essential part of daily operations. AFSN physically supplies Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) into the Norwegian airport network, enabling measurable lifecycle CO₂ reductions. These reductions are captured as SAF Certified Emission Reductions (CERs), which can be purchased by corporates to credibly reduce reported air travel emissions.
Through this partnership, SCB provides customers with the expertise and tools to integrate SAF purchases into their climate strategies. From GHG accounting and claim substantiation to reporting under leading frameworks (e.g. CSRD, SBTi, GRI), SCB ensures that every SAF CER is backed by transparent documentation that auditors, regulators, and stakeholders can trust.

Implementation and Next Steps
AFSN’s ISCC certification is fully operational as of today. Customers can now source ISCC-certified volumes through AFSN, and the company is integrating with relevant certificate registries and traceability platforms to ensure seamless documentation for client reporting. Looking ahead, AFSN will continue to expand its sustainability offering, supporting both mandated and voluntary SAF demand in Norway.

Daglig leder Flemming Sindberg i AFSN signerte avtalen med ZEROs daglige leder Stig Schjølset på årets Zerokonferanse. Med over 1 million flyvninger, hvor 15% SAF blandes inn i drivstoffet, reduserer vi CO2-utslippene med mer enn 2.000 tonn årlig. Denne avtalen er ikke bare et stort skritt for de involverte partene, men også et forbilde for andre aktører i bransjen. – Ved at Norwegian blander 15 prosent SAF i drivstoffet for over 1 million flyreiser i forsvarssektoren, reduseres CO2-utslippene med mer enn 2.000 tonn bare i år, sier bærekraftansvarlig og COO Daniel Tholander i AFSN. Ved å stille krav til flyoperatørene om bruk av SAF som flydrivstoff ved bestilling av forretningsreiser i og fra Norge, kan selskaper oppnå opptil 80 prosent redusert Scope 3 utslipp. Reduksjonen er direkte og kan umiddelbart dokumenteres i bærekraftrapporteringen.

AFSN er til stede på 16 sentrale flyplasser i Norge og er en av få som kan garantere at SAF kjøpt i Norge faktisk brukes som drivstoff på fly i Norge.

– SAF er et sterkt verktøy for å redusere klimautslipp i forbindelse med forretningsreiser. Vi er selv opptatt av å gå foran med et godt eksempel ved å kjøpe SAF som kompensasjon når våre ansatte reiser i jobbsammenheng. På denne måten sikrer vi at intern drift er i tråd med bærekraftmålene som gjelder for luftfartsindustrien, avslutter Tholander.
