Oslo, 26 August 2025 — Aviation Fuelling Services Norway AS (AFSN) today announced that it achieved certification under the RSB (Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials) sustainability standard in mid-August. The certification strengthens AFSN’s ability to deliver Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) across Norwegian airports and enables corporate customers to securely claim verified CO₂ reductions through recognized Book & Claim systems, including the RSB Registry.
– “RSB is widely regarded as one of the most rigorous sustainability standards in our industry,"said Flemming Sindberg, Managing Director at AFSN. “This certification gives our customers the confidence that their SAF purchases are real, traceable, and aligned with leading reporting frameworks.”
With RSB certification in place, AFSN can connect its physical SAF deliveries to corporate climate reporting via Book & Claim—without changing how travelers book or fly. Companies purchasing voluntary SAF through AFSN gain auditable, certificate-backed CO₂ reductions tied to additional SAF delivered in Norway, ensuring tangible climate impact and avoiding double counting.
What RSB certification means for AFSN customers:
- Verified lifecycle CO₂ savings (well-to-wake) with third-party auditing
- Robust chain-of-custody (mass balance) and clear prevention of double counting
- Sustainability safeguards on feedstocks (no deforestation; strong social & environmental criteria)
- Compatibility with EU ETS, CORSIA, CSRD, the GHG Protocol, and SBTi-aligned claims
Ave Boe, CFO at AFSN, added:
“RSB certification is a reassurance across the board—not only for Book & Claim users, but for every stakeholder relying on AFSN’s physical SAF deliveries in Norway. It strengthens confidence in three key areas: (1) data integrity, because our lifecycle calculations and documentation are independently verified; (2) supply-chain traceability, thanks to a rigorous chain-of-custody that follows each batch from feedstock to wing; and (3) sustainability safeguards, which ensure responsible sourcing and robust social and environmental performance. For airlines, corporate buyers, and public procurers alike, RSB gives a clear, credible basis for claims and compliance.”
– “Our message to corporates is simple,”said Daniel Tholander, COO at AFSN. “When you buy voluntary SAF from AFSN via Book & Claim, you enable more SAF to be delivered into Norwegian aviation and receive verified, RSB-certified documentation for your climate accounts.”
AFSN’s RSB certification is now connected to the RSB Book & Claim Registry, and the company will add access to more Book & Claim registries in the near future.
