Highlights from Our 2024 Sustainability Journey
In 2024, Aviation Fuelling Services Norway (AFSN) strengthened its role as a key national supplier of aviation fuel, with operations at 14 airports across Norway. We continued to focus on the reliable distribution of both conventional Jet A-1 and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), helping our customers achieve real and measurable reductions in aviation emissions.

This year’s report marks a major milestone in our sustainability journey. It includes AFSN’s first complete greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory, externally verified to ensure accuracy and transparency. The report also presents a structured overview of our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices.
AFSN is 100% CO₂ Neutral in Business Air Travel
Our total emissions in 2023 were calculated at 1,183,456 tonnes of CO₂ equivalents, with 99.7% stemming from Scope 3 emissions – specifically from the combustion of fuel sold to our customers. This reflects the structural reality that our greatest climate impact lies in how our products are used, not in our own operations. In contrast, Scope 1 and 2 emissions represented less than 0.3%, thanks in part to our use of renewable diesel (HVO-100) and energy efficiency efforts across our operations.

SAF for the Norwegian Armed Forces
We expanded our SAF offering through both mandated and voluntary blending and delivered SAF to a wide range of customers – including the Norwegian Armed Forces – as part of the largest voluntary SAF agreement in Norway to date. This demonstrated our ability to support meaningful emission reductions for both public and private sector clients.

AFSN also replaces 100% of conventional jet fuel with SAF for all internal business air travel, making us fully CO₂-neutral in aviation-related company operations. This is both a tangible climate action and a clear signal that we are serious about our own sustainability goals.
Supplier Due Diligence
Operationally, we maintained high standards of efficiency and safety. We expanded the use of HVO-100 renewable diesel and implemented route optimization and internal energy monitoring to further reduce our own emissions.
In line with the Norwegian Transparency Act, we conducted a structured due diligence assessment of our suppliers, identifying key legal, ethical, and environmental risk areas across our value chain.

Looking ahead to 2025. Our key priorities include:
- Improving the quality and consistency of our internal data
- Achieving certification under ISCC and RSB
- Scaling our SAF offering in a credible, traceable, and transparent way
- Introducing our first electric refueller in joint venture operations
- Ordering two new electric refuellers for AFSN’s own fuel operations
We remain committed to building a responsible and traceable fuel supply system that supports the long-term sustainability of the aviation sector—and reflects the trust placed in us by our customers and partners.
