AFSN Achieves ISCC Certification — Strengthening Verified Sustainable Fuel Supply

Oslo, October 7 2025 — Aviation Fuelling Services Norway AS (AFSN) is pleased to announce that it has successfully achieved ISCC certification (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) in September 2025. This certification strengthens AFSN’s ability to deliver Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) under a globally recognized sustainability standard, enabling its customers to make validated and auditable claims of emissions reductions through certified supply.

“ISCC is one of the most rigorous standards in the industry,” said Flemming Sindberg, Managing Director at AFSN. “With this certification, our customers can be confident that their purchases of sustainable fuel are traceable, credibly documented, and aligned with leading reporting frameworks.”

Why ISCC Certification Matters?

  • Global recognition and scale
ISCC is one of the most widely adopted sustainability certification systems worldwide, well-known across aviation, transport, chemicals, food and feed. This helps to ensure that certified volumes from AFSN are accepted and trusted by regulators, airlines, and corporate customers globally.

  • EU compliance
ISCC EU is approved by the European Commission under the Renewable Energy Directive, making it directly relevant for aviation customers subject to European sustainability requirements such as RefuelEU Aviation and the EU Emissions Trading System. Our certification enables customers to align with both regulatory obligations and voluntary climate goals.

  • Robust chain-of-custody
Through ISCC’s auditable chain-of-custody and mass balance system, certified volumes are transparently tracked from origin to delivery. This gives customers confidence that their use of SAF is credibly documented and safeguarded against double counting.

  • Breadth of feedstocks
ISCC covers a wide range of alternative feedstocks – from waste oils and residues to e-fuels – ensuring flexibility as the aviation sector scales up new technologies in the years ahead.

  • Corporate reporting acceptance
Because ISCC is already embedded across global supply chains, many companies are familiar with its certification and documentation. This makes it straightforward for AFSN’s customers to integrate ISCC certificates into their greenhouse gas reporting and ESG frameworks.

Implementation and Next Steps
AFSN’s ISCC certification is fully operational as of today. Customers can now source ISCC-certified volumes through AFSN, and the company is integrating with relevant certificate registries and traceability platforms to ensure seamless documentation for client reporting. Looking ahead, AFSN will continue to expand its sustainability offering, supporting both mandated and voluntary SAF demand in Norway.
